太陽太大，地太熱，所以要站在盆栽上才不會燙到腳？

Linux Desktop 裡上 BBS 的軟體

之前我就寫過 在 Mac 上玩 BBS 的軟體超級比一比
裡面 alienBBS 表現的是最好的，不過，我用 mrxvt 還是用的最習慣
除了拿來上 BBS 外，也是我工作用的主要 terminal

而在 Linux 下，要用什麼軟體來上 BBS 呢？
其實最簡單的，就直接開個終端機，把字元編碼改成 Big5 然後 telnet 連上 BBS 即可
不過，終端機的表現都不是很好

底下是我剛剛測試的幾個軟體
拿來分別連上 CIA 的日戲版及 PTT 的王建民版進版畫面

1.gnome-terminal
有裝 Gnome 的話，內建應該都會有 gnome-terminal
只要到選單的 “終端機”-”設定字元編碼” 選 “中文（繁體）(BIG5)“ 後再 telnet 連上 BBS 站即可

表現的不是很好，畫面都會亂掉，顯示的速度又慢，不適合拿來長期打 B 用

2.konsole
有裝 KDE 的話，內建應該也會有 konsole
到選單的 “設定”-”Encoding” 選 “繁體中文（big5）” 後再 telnet 連上 BBS 站即可

一樣是畫面會亂掉，不適合拿來長期打 B 用

3.qterm
Ubuntu 在 universe 中有，是對岸的人寫的，本來就是寫來上 BBS 用的表現上當然比上述的終端機好多了
不過預設都是簡體的設定，因此，需要到 “Option” 裡去把 “Default Setting” 及 “Preference” 設定一下，語言及字型等，都改成繁體中文的

一些日文字都變成框框了，應該是字型的關係，可能要慢慢調看用哪種字型比較合適

4.pcmanx-gtk2
這本來就是寫來上 BBS 用的，因此，表現上，跟上述三個比起來，都是比較好的一個

一樣是字型的問題，日文字變成框框，可能得找個合適的字型才行，不過，還是有些 bugs，字太小，畫面不會置中 (我去偏好設定中調過了，但沒用)

5.mrxvt
到最後，我的最佳選擇，還是用 mrxvt，支援 tab 的功能，顯示速度上又快，不過不支援 UTF-8 是比較可惜的一點

搭配 kcfont 的點陣字，畫面又亮又清楚，這樣看起來才爽
且日文字也都正常，王版的進版畫面也最正常，都沒亂掉

mrxvt-0.5.1 Ubuntu 的 deb 檔我有打包好了，到我的 APT Repository 下載，而 Fedora Core 5 的 rpm 檔，在 CLE 的 Yum Repository 中我也有放

而要上的 bbs 站台，我都寫成 script 檔，搭配 expect 來自動登入及防斷線
因此，我只要打個 ptt 即可連上 PTT BBS 並登入到好，算是很方便的了

好久沒在注意 Fedora 相關的新聞，剛剛才看到

我之前曾報導過 OS X Portable Applications
OS X FOSS portable applications are packaged so you can carry around with you on any portable device, USB thumb drive, iPod, portable hard drive, memory card, other portable device (or also on your internal hard disk).

很早就對 Portable Applications 有印象，就是 Portable Firefox，而目前 Portable Firefox 也移到 PortableAppls 去了
(前公司之前也曾經在搞這種 Portable 的 VoIP Software，而最難搞的算是 Autorun 的部份，每家 USB 碟的作法又不盡相同…XD)
PortableApps 上面有很多 FOSS 的 Windows 軟體

在自由軟體技術交流網上看到的 可攜式軟體USB隨身碟 — 應用程式行動碟
這應該是跟 PortableApps 類似的東西，不過若有人將其加上中文方面的支援的話，這對中文使用者來說，應該會更方便吧

在 Linux for Travelers 上也看到了除了 Mac 及 Windows 之外，在 Linux 上也是可以跑的 Running Portable Apps on Linux
不過看了一下，目前還是用 WINE 去跑的 (有點 Orz)
若是有 Native 的 Linux solution 應該會比較好

不過我想，拿片 Linux LiveCD 也是方法之一吧 (@@)，然後再把設定檔儲到 USB 碟中…XD

最近時間都花在 “企鵝” 身上，每天都搞得很晚，所以好久沒讓你們亮相了…XD

PCMan 檔案管理員

試玩了一下 PCManFM

偏好設定的畫面

PCManFM 簡單、支援 Tab 的功能
不過 Tree View 目前不穩定，先拿掉了

底下是 Nautilus 的對照圖，其實 PCManFM 用起來整體感覺跟 Nautilus 差不多

Thunar 的對照圖，功能有點陽春

Konqueror 的對照圖，就功能上來說，應該是 Konqueror 最強，也有 Tab 的功能，不過感覺花俏一點，Style 我不是很喜歡，不過在手動輸入目錄或檔案名稱時，有類似 bash complete 的那種功能，這部份我就很喜歡，很實用，看 PCManFM 能不能也加進去

至於 Ubuntu Dapper 的 i386 及 powerpc 版的 deb 套件，我有打包好了，直接到我的 APT Repository 去下載即可

OpenDarwin Shutting Down

這是在搞什麼？ OpenDarwin Shutting Down

OpenDarwin was originally created with the goal of providing a development environment for building and developing Mac OS X sources as well as developing a standalone Darwin OS derivative. OpenDarwin was meant to be a development community and a proving ground for fixes and features for Mac OS X and Darwin, which could be picked up by Apple for inclusion in the canonical sources. OpenDarwin has failed to achieve its goals in 4 years of operation, and moves further from achieving these goals as time goes on. For this reason, OpenDarwin will be shutting down.

Over the past few years, OpenDarwin has become a mere hosting facility for Mac OS X related projects. The original notions of developing the Mac OS X and Darwin sources has not panned out. Availability of sources, interaction with Apple representatives, difficulty building and tracking sources, and a lack of interest from the community have all contributed to this. Administering a system to host other people’s projects is not what the remaining OpenDarwin contributors had signed up for and have been doing this thankless task far longer than they expected. It is time for OpenDarwin to go dark.

Project admins for all active projects have been notified, and we will be working with them to provide as seamless a transition to their new homes as possible. We don’t want to boot anyone off, we will be operating the machines as usual for several months, until everyone has had a chance to move elsewhere.

We will continue to provide email and dns redirection after the machines go dark. We’ll be looking at what other redirection services are needed and can be provided after hosting has ceased.

The OpenDarwin team would like to thank everyone who did contribute to the project, and our apologies to active, loyal projects that have to move.

主要是增加了 Video Player 的功能

Wireless Mighty Mouse

愛鼠成痴的我，終於等到藍芽版的 Mighty Mouse 了
雖然我對 USB 那隻 Mighty Mouse 很感冒，現在已經不知丟到哪去了
不過，目前市面上的藍芽鼠可選擇的還真的不多
比較好用的也就我現在在用的 Logitech V270
這支 Wireless Mighty Mouse 我還是會去買來用吧
只是，不知道台灣還要等多久才會開賣

會有缺圖的問題，所以編輯 index.theme 加入:

KDE 面板預設是用 32 大小的圖示，而 MacOS-X 裡沒有 32×32 的圖示
但因為繼承了 crystalsvg，所以主選單的蘋果圖示被換掉了
只要把 /usr/share/icons/crystalsvg/32×32/apps/kmenu.png 改成 kmenu1.png 或刪除即可

更換字型
若要安裝字型，請用 “字型安裝程式”
或手動安裝:
